Powdershape Aqua
The new system Powdershape Aqua allows you to characterize the shape and size of particles in liquids. The new system is especially interesting for biological and chemical applications that must be held in liquid environments.
Figure 1: the Powdershape Aqua consists of a sample feeder for the specially designed dishes for liquid samples, a scanner and a computer.
Operation
The handling of the system has remained simple. The specially designed dishes for your liquid samples allows to perform measurements in liquid in the same manner as measurements in air. It is even possible to change between dry or wet samples. The Powdershape Aqua system enables to characterize size and shape of particles in any kind of liquids (grain size range: 0,03 - 30 mm). You can also scan samples in Petri dishes without any additional effort.
The scanning takes place automatically. One dish after another is moved onto the scanner where it remains until fully scanned. The samples are scanned with a transmissive light line camera. The Powdershape software detects and measures individual objects based on their shape. The measurement results are compiled in a report. The report is available as pdf, print report or can be exported to Excel for further statictical analysis. Examples of often used characterisations are:
- particles size distribution
- shape descriptors according to ISO 9276 - 6 such as ellipse ratio, aspect ratio, ellongation
- length and width distribution
Applications
Examples for different specimen are:
- chemically aggregated fluorocarbon particles in water,
- living cell cluster imaging
